Week 15- Friday, April 23rd

I will give this week a 4. It is very bittersweet to be ending my teaching experience in this classroom. I never thought that I would be so ready for it to end but also want to stay awhile longer. This week was a decent week. I have been a little bit stressed with trying to finish my portfolio but I believe it is because it looks like a lot.. when in reality, most of it has already been done.   A pleasant surprise that I received this week was gifts and lunch today from my CE and other teachers around me. I am overwhelmed with emotions and will never be able to thank them all enough for everything they have done for me. My experiences this week reminded me just how important it is to have positive relationships with your students and co-workers. Having these positive relationships has made this time very hard for me but in a positive way. My short-term efforts of finishing my portfolio are aligned with my long-term goals of successfully completing student teaching and graduating. I...

Week 14- Friday, April 16th

I will rate my overall experience of this week a 4. It was a pretty good week. I have finished my 10 weeks so now I am not teaching as much and things are a little more calmed down. However, I still have a lot to do.        A pleasant surprise that I had this week was receiving a gift from our media specialist for completing student teaching (almost). I have loved being at this school and working closely with all of the specialists and teachers. Everyone has been so kind and encouraging. My work taught me this week to take a moment and be appreciative and thankful for everything I have made it through. We are winding down toward the end of student teaching now, and it seems like everything was a blur. I realized this week that I’m almost finished and it’s going to be difficult to leave this group of students. My short-term effort of completing my portfolio is aligned with my long-term goal of successfully completing student teaching and graduating...

Week 13- Friday, April 2

It finally came.. my '5' week. I knew it would come at some point but I was beginning to doubt. This week was a 5 out of 5. I have yet to give a week that rating because I knew that there could be better weeks to come. This one proved that. It was by far the best and most eventful week that I have had.      This week, I had a couple of pleasant surprises. The first was that I PASSED EdTPA!! I couldn't be happier about this and I am so happy that everyone passed! The second is that I GOT A JOB! What a week. It was the best week I have had in a long time and I finally see my hard work paying off. The lessons that my experiences taught me this week and overall are that I need to be more confident in myself. I doubted myself so much about getting a job and passing edTPA. I already had it in my mind that neither of these things would work out for me. But thank God, they did. My short-term efforts of working on my portfolio are aligned with my long-te...

Week 12- Friday, March 26th

This week has been a little crazy. I feel like I have been on a rollercoaster all week (I’m usually scared of rollercoasters but this one wasn’t too bad). Overall, I would rate it a 4. It was good but it had its moments. And by “moments”, I mean times when I didn’t think Friday would ever come. Having all of the kids here 5 days a week has been a change but it has been a nice change. I love seeing all of their smiling faces every day. They love all being together.   This week, something that I would consider an accomplishment is making it through the first week of having all of our students back. It was definitely a challenge, but I made it! Another accomplishment was having my first job interview! Even if I don’t get the job, I am very proud of myself. I never thought the day would come (especially so quickly) that I would interviewing for a teaching position. My experiences this week taught me to be more confident in myself. I get very anxious for a lot of things and the i...

Week 11- Friday, March 19th

Once again, we have come to the end of another week. At this point, I honestly can't keep track of how long it has been. I can't believe that I will be finished with my 10 weeks in a short couple of weeks. I will give this week a 4 out of 5. It wasn't the best week but it definitely wasn't the worst. It has been getting a bit more stressful with beginning to apply for jobs and trying to wrap everything up but I know I can do it.  A pleasant surprise this week was that the county just posted several jobs on the website. So I am in the process of applying for these jobs. Hopefully, things will go well but if not, I will continue to apply. My experiences this week taught me that I will be planning a lot more lessons. All of our kids are coming back five days a week beginning on Monday. So my lesson planning document is a lot longer than usual. This tells me that I will definitely have to start planning early so that I do not overwhelm myself. My short-term efforts of stud...

Week 10- Friday, March 12

I would give this week a 4 out of 5. It was a little more relaxed because I didn’t have to stress about EdTPA. But I still had a lot to do.   Something that I feel that I accomplished this week was simply the ability to breathe a little. I feel like I wasn’t stressing as much as I usually do, and I consider this an accomplishment. A lesson that I learned from my experiences this week was to prepare myself a little better. I always come prepared for each day but sometimes I could prepare better. All of my students come back 5 days a week soon and I need to be fully prepared because it will be a lot different. My short-term goals of planning lessons and beginning my portfolio are aligned with my long-term goals of successfully completing student teaching and passing edTPA. I could have spent more time at the beginning of the week working on my lesson plans. If I did this, I would be able to relax a little more at the end of the week. I usually get most of it done on Wednesday ...

Week 9- Friday, March 5th

This week was a 4 out of 5. I think it was a 4 because it wasn't awful and I feel accomplished. Finally submitting EdTPA has lifted a lot of stress from my shoulders. I am now anxiously awaiting the results. Overall, this week was successful. It was also a bit stressful because I was trying to perfect my EdTPA tasks while teaching and writing lesson plans for next week. But I made it and I am proud of myself. I have gotten a lot further than I ever thought I would.  My biggest accomplishment this week was definitely submitting EdTPA. I put a lot of hard work into it and will hopefully receive results that prove that. Now that it has been submitted, I will have more time to focus on my lesson plans for each week, my portfolio, and teaching. A lesson that I learned this week was to continue to manage my time more wisely. I am doing better than I used to, but I could always do better. My short-term efforts of creating lesson plans, teaching successful lessons, and submitting EdT...
